The ShivSrushti Museum presents a magnificent gallery that will take you back to the 17th century and make you witness the coronation ceremony of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the founder of the Maratha Empire. Sihasandhiswar is a gallery that showcases the authentic account of the coronation ceremony through the diary pages of Sir Henry Oxenden, who was the English deputy-governor of Bombay of East India Company.
Sir Henry Oxenden was present at the coronation ceremony of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj on 6 June 1674 at Raigad Fort and wrote an illustrative account of the entire event. He described the grandeur and splendour of the ceremony, the symbols and rituals used by Shivaji Maharaj, and the dignitaries and guests who attended it. He also praised Shivaji Maharaj for his bravery, generosity and wisdom.
Don’t miss this opportunity to see Sihasandhiswar at the ShivSrushti Museum and experience the joy and pride of a coronation ceremony.
